    Because at the Battle of Monmouth, Washington was too much of a wimp that let Mad Anthony Wayne go in there and blow out those British bastards/pipsqueaks.

    Ex-Eagles WR Torrey Smith: Trump's cancellation 'a cowardly act'

    I hadn't seen this on the thread. Also, one thing I hadn't realized until I heard it on ESPN this morning. None of the Eagles actually did take a knee during the National Anthem. That sounds like further proof that this is about Trump's ego, not about disrespecting the flag.

    This idea that your patriotism can only be demonstrated by standing with your hand over your heart and singing a song on command is obviously nonsensical.

    But what is particularly cynical about this for me, is that the charlatan-in-chief creates these controversies, in part at least, to obscure his lack of integrity when it comes to how he treats the country. He'd sooner take a giant dump all over the country if it served his ego or some fleeting want or need, as he'd do anything truly patriotic.
