Just seeing that this thread is open. I don’t know how anyone could watch Trump’s speech in Montana a few days ago and not conclude that he’s severely mentally addled.

 

As the town hall story linked above shows, McConnell hides from his constituents anyway. So fuck him. Cowards have no room to complain when voters have to track them to a parking lot. Turn around and answer some fucking questions.

I've been reading Marcy Wheeler/emptywheel since she live-blogged the Scooter Libby trial. She's smart, well informed, and she's followed national security and civil liberties issues for a long time. If she saw something that she felt that she had to go to the FBI about, I'm more than fine with it. That's not something that she would do lightly. In fact, it is very out of character for her... so I figure that if she felt the need, she probably had something that needed to be looked at.

As far as "a journalist outing her source", she's a blogger primarily, and an independent journalist. She's out publicly about having done so. She posted about doing it and why on emptywheel. She has taken responsibility for doing so and explained her reasoning, and the fact that she did so is out there for anyone who is a potential source to consider before talking to her. That may blow back on her, cost her sources and stories, and I'm certain that she knew that before she talked to Mueller's people - and she chose to go on and do so.

She took a national security concern, her reasoning, and the evidence to the special counsel who is investigating the matters she was also looking at. I regard her as a citizen acting to protect the nation.
