The founding generation didn’t think Americans would be such pussies and go to court every time someone sneezed in public

I can't help but think that Susan Collins is thinking "Those bastards didn't tell me about this shit".

She's got a pretty good incentive to push back on Kavanaugh. There is a lot of money already pledged to her next primary opponent, and if she votes for him more $ will be added to it.

They didn't consider the possibility that one state (California) could be 38 times more populous than another (Wyoming), making it impossible for it to receive equal congressional representation.

They didn't think of a lot of things.

    She won’t. Folds every time.

Edit to add: The only silver lining is the Dems will pick up a Senate seat in 2020. She’s done if she confirms Kavanaugh.

They didn't foresee an Article I branch of the government becoming the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for a corrupt executive, no.

Bill Palmer is reporting that swamp thing Grassley wanted to set up a call between Ford, Kavanaugh and the committee.

California has 53 members in the House of Representatives. Wyoming has one. I'd say it's pretty much a wash.

I do hope some writer has been collecting material for a book on this. Each side has spent more than $1 mil on PR for this campaign, there are many people and groups heavily invested in this confirmation and I imagine the behind the scenes stuff would be fascinating. Everything from the nominee prep to the oppo to the coordination between the Senate, the White House and the Federalist Society to make the thing happen. And then you have the various Senators, those up for re-election in weeks worrying how their vote will impact their re-election chances. This is high stakes stuff.

It's 55-3 regarding people who vote for things.
