I really don't understand the "boys will boys" defense ...

Well, I don't know that we'll ever know, with 100 percent certainty, what happened between them. So in a case like this, it comes down to belief, to one degree or another. I might be biased. I don't like him, and I sure don't like the president who is trying to appoint him. But I feel like I'm thinking fairly objectively about her and her story. I could be wrong. I was wrong earlier on this thread, when I said this wouldn't go anywhere, because she didn't want to be named. Now that she's named, the situation has changed. It would change further if additional accuser came forward, for instance.

I think most rational people could agree that the best course of action, right now, given the stakes of the appointment and its nature, is to have a full vetting of the situation. Have them both testify. See what happens. But for me it's a serious enough allegation that the pause button needs to be hit, especially given the other red flags Kavanaugh has thrown up. And I feel as though only pure partisans could argue otherwise.

Bottom line, however: I disagree strongly that anyone would do this, and subject themselves to the treatment she is about to receive, based on a total lie.

I predict that Collins will flip, but Murkowski will not and the vote will be 50-50 with Pence breaking the tie.

It is very obvious McConnell doesn't want Ford to have a public hearing. Suggests HE believes her.

It won't happen, but it would be interesting if Flake and Kyl joined forces to let John McCain say "fuck you" to Trump one last time from beyond the grave.

They'll move heaven and earth to get him confirmed.
It doesn't need mentioning but a bunch of very old men on one side of this equation is the sort of terrible optics this administration traffics in.

I’d say this sums it up well for me.

One woman’s allegation of attempted rape is one conservative’s attempt at seduction. I think this will come down to a question of linguistics and semantics. It’s clear that Kavanaugh is not a cunning linguist and is anti semantic

In other news, Mueller's office files with the court that Michael Flynn is ready for sentencing. So he's been squeezed dry.
