Think next time you go to a Chinese buffet

Our columnist just told the story that has turned me off Chinese food for a long, long time.

A guy in town goes to a Chinese buffet a few days ago and goes on a Homer Simpson-esque binge. When he gets full, however, he leaves a mountain of food on his final plate (not sure how much of the mountain of food he ate off the plate).

The owners of the restaurant are mad and tell him they're going to charge him 15% gratuity for wasting that last plate of food.

Guy gets mad and goes to the police. Police go to the restaurant and ask to see the guy's final plate.

Owners say they just dumped the food back into the buffet.

Saw a story in the local news along those lines. Stuff that's left behind gets recycled, although they do it in the privacy of the kitchen.

Or they could just charge you more, because you're fat.

This pair of guys are now becoming semi-famous because a Chinese restaurant in Louisiana charged them extra for eating too much off the buffet, then banned them from the restaurant.

I was half-expecting to read that the General Tso's Chicken was actually Generally Tabby Cat.

I will confess that like once a year, I get a craving for the Chinese buffet. I'm aware it is probably like Grade F sanitary conditions and food, but I just get that itch sometimes.
