    I think there's a difference between "facing the public" and that.

    Sort of disagree, although I understand the sentiment.

    In an age when politicians wall themselves off from the public by handpicking "audiences" for "town halls" and speeches, or by appearing only in soundbite form on social media or on friendly TV "news" platforms, this is the one recourse people have to protest.

    They're going to take it.

    There's something to Azrael's point there. But I don't think politics is better off when politicians are not allowed to be off-duty in public.
