She's his nominee. If he were offended by it, don't you think he'd say so? He has undercut his people on many occasions before. So far, not a peep on this front.
Why not? Because the only people who matter to him are rich, powerful or attractive. If you fall into none of those buckets, he considers you weak and worthless.
Whatever it takes to whack education is fine by Trumpists. This doesn't merely cut education; it checks a second Trumpist box by hurting those who fail to meet his standards of human value.

NRA is telling Congresspeople to vote against renewal of Violence Against Women Act because it would prevent men convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence or stalking from purchasing firearms. NRA should be declared a terrorist organization, its leaders sent to Gitmo and its members put on permanent no-fly list. Let 'em hitchhike to Branson.

Guess he doesn't look too closely at the MAGA rally crowds.

At his rallies, Trump revels in the ecstatic spectacle of human depravity. He sees his dreams made reality. He doesn’t see the crowd. He doesn’t need to.

Truth is, he hates most of the people at his rallies. He won't admit he craves their adulation.
Case in point: Mocking the accent of Jefferson Beauregard Secessions XVII. People like Sessions are his klan. Yet he has no problem mocking them even in public.

The original post suggested that this was DeVos doing President Trump's bidding. I don't think that is true. She is pushing the same agenda she has pursued for years as someone using her wealth to buy political influence. I think this is what she wants and it happens to fit into his overall philosophy, so he stays out of it.

To be clear, I'm not defending either of them. I'm just putting more of the responsibility on DeVos.

Hiding the Full Mueller Report Is Another Gift to Vladimir Putin

"One reason to insist on the release of the entire report is to learn as much as possible about the evidence linking Moscow to the Trump campaign, whether or not anyone is ever charged, or in president’s case, impeached.

But there’s another reason that ought to transcend the partisanship around pursuing various charges: to spread as broadly as possible what Mueller learned about Russian tradecraft — how Moscow did what it did, never mind who may have helped out. That information could be the foundation for an effective policy to make it harder for any outside actors to undercut U.S. democracy, no matter whose interests they may harm or benefit. Laura Rosenberger, who runs the Alliance for Securing Democracy (and who lived this experience firsthand as a foreign policy adviser on the 2016 Clinton campaign), described the situation to me in stark terms:

"We also know from separate DOJ charges and administration officials that these efforts continued through the midterms, and are ongoing today. Addressing Russia’s interference is a matter of national security, and will require partisanship to be put aside to take real steps to harden our defenses, deter Russia and other countries that might seek to follow suit, and build societal resilience. A partisan response would not only hamper such efforts; with increasing polarization and weakening our institutions a goal of Putin’s efforts, it would play directly into Putin’s hands."
