This is complete hogwash. AOC says (I am paraphrasing)..."We are running concentration camps on the border", Some Dems and many Republicans say..."These are not concentration camps, nobody is being gassed"...AOC, historians, Japanese and Jews point out..."Not every concentration camp is a death camp therefore AOC was correct". Now you somehow argue that pointing out the actual fucking definition of concentration camps is minimizing the Holocaust. This is stupid. If you want to argue that AOC should not use the term because of the Holocaust I may disagree but it is a perfectly legit conversation. But to draw a line from "This is the actual definition" to "AOC fans are minimizing the Holocaust" is indefensible. But I suspect you already know this.

 

I wouldn't count on that.

No, it does not minimize the Holocaust. There is a difference between a concentration camp and a death camp. The Nazis didn’t start with death camps. Denying rights, rounding up, ghettos, and concentration camps worked pretty well while they were still in Germany. It was when they got to Eastern Europe where there were millions of us that they found mass shootings and gassing in cattle cars wasn’t up to German standards of efficiency.

What I am insulted by is the Republican and right wing fake outrage on behalf of Jews, in what is another blatant and fruitless attempt to reduce the Jewish D vote.

One can support the repressive Netanyahu regime and still hate Jews. Or not. One can criticize that regime and not be antisemitic. Or can be.

However, we know that is crap.

what I am saying, is AOC and her defenders pulling out the “definition of a concentration camp and history of concentration camps” is crap for the same reason. The average American when asked what a concentration camp is, they will say “it was a place where the Nazis sent 11 million to die.” AOC is literally playing on that imagery to score points. And people are lining up to defend her like they do everyday with trump.

And to clarify, I think what is happening on the border is a disgrace. It’s a fucking travesty led by an a scum bag of a president. It doesn’t need people trying to make it is something it is not.

 

The theater is different, but she's Jim Jordan. She's bomb throwing from the radical wing of her party. Nothing new here except the pretty face. She's at least as smart as Jordan and has better writers.

That's why I object to the "face of the party" crap. She's not. She's at the far edge, but she's photogenic and can deliver a line. Her influence beyond that is entirely dependent on media attention. If she is able to attract and direct that attention to push an issue, well, that's being a politician, isn't it?

not even close. They are as different as Trump and Obama. Nixon and Kennedy were closer than Jordan and AOC. Jordan is stupid. Hes a bomb thrower, She's an intellctual partisan. He's a myopic, small minded fool that looks to hurt others in order to get some benefits. She is the opposite, and while you may disagree with her policy to get there, her goal is raise everyone up. Jordan is determined to keep his opponents down and oppressed.

 

Hmmm ... maybe Chuck Todd is also a whore of a different type.
