The idea that if you criticize something you therefore must not love it—rather than you want to preserve or make better the thing that you love the most—is a trope as old and dumb as rocks.

because they hate america and israel and if america is winning it's bad for socialism and abortion but maybe you're just too caught up in your own anti-semitism and hatred of freedom to see that

Some of these idiots don’t have any real idea what love is.

My mother loved me but she told me I better get my act together in school or I would never get into college. My mother loved me but she also told me my (now) ex-girlfriend was a useless idiot who would drag me into bankruptcy if I stayed with her. My mother loved me but she also told me I’d better watch my ass...literally, watch my ass, when I started putting weight on and started resembling my pot bellied uncles.

Loving someone or something doesn’t mean a blind loyalty to all of the stupid bullshit that person or things involves itself in. It means caring and wanting what is best, and raising hell when you feel potential is being wasted.

I ask the love it or leave it crowd how they deal with their own children. Do they ever attempt to correct poor behaviors? Do they ever educate them so they become better people? The answer is always Yes. I then ask them why they hate their children. "This is totally different" is often the response. While this is a very cliche approach and I admit is not a total apple to apples comparison I think it, on some level, is appropriate.

When I look at how some people behave in public I think kids aren’t being corrected either.
