Just wait, Rob. Someone's bound to mention politics on this thread, and then all hell's gonna break loose.

This thread is fortunate to have you, Rob. Say nothing of it.

    "BUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAH!"

    Not true.
40 pages in and no politics.

Plus, I have pretty good luck with my threads staying cordial. If you need further proof, just check out "Everything you've ever wanted to know about women". ;)

Or the hot tub thread. My favorite.

OK, you talked me into reading it. Can someone send my novice ass to that thread?

Eh, I think the differing sizes of the two photos gives them completely different feels, regardless of the action within them.

Also, how have I been on here for months and not known there was a design thread? D'oh!

We're quiet, Washingtonian, but we're powerful. ;) And welcome to you, too.

The main hed being the same font as the section flag font is something I found distracting. And my default complaint on hed size, especially with the two being so close in size. Other than that, pretty darn solid page.

Man, Ft. Worth always manages to get so much info out there, but it never really feels cluttered or crammed. Nice stuff....

I agree with Farbecker though .... the two photos are too similar, and I'm not sure the size difference takes care of that.

Rob ... did ya bring the Saltines?

One thing we struggle with is accomplishing the very feat they did -- pleasing many people and still making things look good. We don't do it nearly as well as this....

I love the BCS rail, and I love the ticker at the bottom...Perhaps Rob or someone more familiar with the page/paper can tell me, but does that ticker perhaps have refers to where those gamers/roundups can be found?

Or do you all think that might be taking it a little far?

For something a little different, here's a comparison of big-event coverage. These are this past weekend's NASCAR Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. On the left is the Dallas Morning News. On the right is the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (the Star-Telegram was a special section).
