There is a caption in the middle section that separates the column and game story.

He is in the art. Read the caption in the middle section separating the column and game story.

I do miss design discussions - I'm surprised Kornheiser didn't say "when did newspapers get so small?"

    My bad.

That looked like a final out shot. I missed reading down.

    Re: "Above the fold."

If that phrase still matters at all, it's only regarding the A1 layout, not an inside section like sports. A1 is the only page that would be showing in a newspaper box.

Anyway, the number of single-copy sales influenced by what is displayed "above the fold" on A1 can probably be counted on one hand.

I saw the A1 front - Mystics was over the masthead. Not sure the Nats game was in a lower right box. But that may have been an early edition.

I remember about 10 years ago everyone at our joint was so worried about design and whether people would pick up the paper...

Just put out a damn good product.

Your eyes will first go to the Nationals with the bigger head and bigger photo.

Your eyes will first go to the Nationals page because of the bigger head and photo.
