President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

My sister in law - a Trump voter - thinks Public schools need to teach about the dangers of socialism, and the irony is lost on her.

 

My take on Perry is that if he did have a scandal, it would be the garden variety dipshit type and not the Trumpist criminal kind.

 

Well, he doesn’t remember so that’s OK.

 

I had an old guy who is very much a Trumpanzee make a similar comment to me just this week when he found out I am a high school U.S. Government teacher. I basically ripped him a new one and left him dumbfounded when I asked him how he likes his Social Security deposit each month and Medicare.

 

Here's the GOP in a nutshell:
"I look at that transcript and I go, it's Trump being Trump," Johnson said.

I do love that one - I'd thought I had some Southern chops but I never heard that one before.

 

It's been a nightmarish presidency. Trump's been a bull in a china shop, engendering zero loyalty, to the point almost everything the man has said away from Twitter will be leaked, the FBI and CIA have and continue to take aim at getting him out of there, and he has shabbiest bunch of advisors and administrators of all time.

And yet, and yet, I hope Warren, or whoever wins the presidency on the left, takes good notes. Because for whatever wrong Trump has done, which is plenty, we also see a class of professional bureaucrats who, upon making up their minds about a president, leak and insinuate and butter up reporters, and there's something about how this has been done that suggests it could happen to anyone who isn't as careful as a guy like Obama was.

We live in different times. Whoever is the next president needs to trust the hell out of the team around them.
