I will probably misrepresent what Shotglass is saying and admit that I agree, to some degree, in that the constant media churn of Trump misdeeds, amplified by social media, likely isn’t doing much to change anything.

I’m losing count of the breaking news and major developments that would bring the end of this administration. And, sitting in the middle of a deep red state, I see very few minds being changed.

I knew who and what Trump was before he was elected. He was much easier to avoid, then. Sadly, he is also what a whole bunch of Americans want.

My disappointment dwells mainly in the ineffectual leadership in the opposing party and the lack of good journalism in the media.

My doubt is growing that Trump is on his way out and am questioning the amount of time and energy I have wasted on the Internet, hoping that some spark of political justice might prevail.

I have not believed a jobs report in decades.

Justin, that's a fair question. One which I must answer with a question.

What has been accomplished here to prevent that?

Oggie, I can't like that enough. You misrepresented nothing.

Outside of the Jobs board and maybe the Journalism topics board, what has been accomplished on SJ.com about literally ANYTHING?

Granted: We all should know by now the best way to drive to Tahoe.

Otherwise - is that what we're doing here day after day posting on this message board? Accomplishing things?

"What Trump is doing is indefensible!"

    "Yes, he should be castrated!"

    "I agree!"

    Radio silence for 15 minutes.

If Azrael doesn't get offended, I will offer that I don't like Donald Trump either. So our position has been stated. Everybody's position has been stated. Ad nauseum.

So you're just dropping by this thread to tell everyone they should shut the fuck up and quit bitching?

I'm not sure posts on a sports journalism message board should be the metric for real world political activism or engagement.

Those things happen - or don't - away from the board.

Chuckle. Maybe. Or maybe just I'M going to shut the fuck up and quit bitching.

You know, I used to catch a lot of shit from Dickie about thinking I'm the "moral conscience" of the board. Which I've never claimed. But you know, I take a step back and come to the conclusion that I don't need to whine about what's wrong, and sure as hell, I'm catching hell for that.

Social media as we know it, he says with a bemused shrug.

Me giving you shit is less about you coming to this conclusion, and more about you feeling the need to come here and proclaim you no longer care. Smells like virtue signaling.

What was the response you were hoping for?

"That's a good point. Let's all stop paying attention to politics and stop posting in this thread."

    That's a pretty sobering thought. Then again . . .

We invaded two countries, created ISIS and have been at war for 18 years. UTTER FAIL.

Got in. Got out. Not too much fuss. SUCCESS.

We kicked the can another decade down the road. You can ask Ragu, but I believe the answer would be UTTER FAIL.

We got rid of our missiles in Turkey in exchange for the Soviets getting rid of their new ones in Cuba.
I happen to think it's cool, under the theory that fewer missiles are always better.

But imagine Trump making such an exchange. The screeching would be non-stop. "Khruschev's puppet!"

    That's a legitimate point. I acknowledge that.

Just one thing: Isn't this 12,000 pages worth of virtue signaling?
