    JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - Sports Editor

    Description:
We are a local daily newspaper located in Northeast Indiana seeking a qualified journalist for the Sports Editor position. The winning candidate will be required to cover local sporting events, write daily articles, take photographs, complete daily pages for publication, post to our social media and website, as well as other various assignments that may arise.

We offer a competitive salary and flexible schedule, as most events will take place in the evenings and on weekends. Some travel will be required, depending upon where our local teams play, so a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are a must.

Requirements include experience in InDesign and Photoshop; ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment; ability to meet daily deadlines; ability to communicate and work well with others; and the ability to work unsupervised.

A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, but not required.

Please submit resume and writing & pagination examples if available to jandrews@decaturdailydemocrat.com

Already had an interview for this job ... a week before it was posted on journalismjobs.com. I guess that means I'm out of the running.

Never worked there but am familiar with the region. Nice little town, not far up the road from another opening being advertised at the moment in Portland. Definitely a slow pace of life and can't imagine this pays all that well.
Nearest major (or mid-major) city is Fort Wayne, 20 or so miles up U.S. 27/33. 2 1/2 hours from Indy and 3 1/2 hours from Chicago, depending on traffic.
