So much to unpack and so much that might never be unpacked. I'm sure more will come out about the pilot and his history, but there's also the factor of flying a celebrity and his family and friends. It's easy for us to say he shouldn't have taken off, or should have cut the trip short, etc., but the guy was hired to do a job and who knows how Kobe was to work for. And who knows on mechanical failure, though by all accounts this model of helicopter was/is quite solid.

I absolutely guarantee you everything will come out. It will take a long time, but it will come out.

The NTSB did an exhaustive investigation into my sister's family's crash. The report is extremely detailed, with radar detections, cellphone pings, all of it. Interviews with people, air traffic controllers, radio traffic, you name it.

People with the maker of the helicopter will be involved in the investigation. They will work hand-in-hand with the NTSB. They will recover the chopper and take it to a hangar and reconstruct it as best as they can.

They did all of this and more with the wreckage of my sister's family's crash high up in the mountains of Colorado. It's truly incredible what they do and the reports they file and how they reach the conclusions they do. And if you go to the NTSB website, you can find every accident report of small crashes and large ones.

Watched the rerun of his 60-pt game last night and his postgame speech to the fans. Joked about how for 20 years people told him to pass the ball but tonight it was take it, take it. Then he had a good long laugh, maybe a couple beats too long -- since we're overanalyzing everything now.

NTSB probes sometimes raise more questions than answers. We still don't know who was piloting Corey Lidle's plane when it crashed in NYC.

If you read Cuban's statement carefully, he stopped short of saying 24 is retired. It's more like what the Warriors did with Durant's number.

Not what Miami did with Jordan?

Saw today was the 34th anniv. of the Challenger. Couldn't imagine a bigger blow to our nation when it happened. The first civilian in space - teacher Christa McCaullife and then you had the crew on it - it was like all of us were on board that thing.

Was 10 when this happened. Was devastating. Kids today have no idea what a big deal a space shuttle launch was.

Tried explaining this to my seven-year-old daughter recently (can't remember what brought it up). It was impossible to convey how people gathering around a TV in a school was a huge deal in 1986, or how Grandpa being riveted by the coverage a few hours later underlined just how big and sad it was. We also played her Reagan's address that night. It was a reminder of how nice it was to have a president whom you might not agree with, but whom you could count on to deliver an eloquent message that spoke to the nation.

So the Clips and Lakers postpone their game b/c of grief? For a retired player?

Funny, the Yankees flew to Munson's funeral, Murcer gave a eulogy for the ages, then flew back to play the Orioles that night in what was the most emotional game in their careers where Murcer got the winning hit.
