Maybe the NFL starts up some time this fall, but I can't imagine they will allow or get full crowds. That leads to another issue. What do you do with fans who paid for a PSL and/or season tickets? Do they get refunds? Do teams try to force them to buy the tickets for 2020 or risk losing their place in the future? Like many things going on right now, it is a logistical mess waiting to happen.

I was thinking about how the Internet and the ever rapid news cycle have conditioned us to the "outrage of the day" type thing and then we move on to the next "daily outrage" - maybe two or three more - before the week is out. Maybe its just among news junkies, but our national - probably international as well - attention span is so limited, and we get bored easily, consuming content, wanting more, the next thing etc. I honestly wonder how people will deal with a third and fourth week of the same story dominating things. Will it be tuned out? Find some other way to be outraged (people are getting creative with their outrage on social media)? Become less outraged and less likely to hyperfocus on the slightest misstep by a celebrity, badly conceived tweet, or hot new meme? It's interesting to ponder. We're so accustomed to something else coming along - like life is a conveyor belt. We want drama, we want movement, winners and losers. As effective as the lockdown orders are - its going to be much harder to ease it. Everyone WANTS to get back to normal as quickly as possible. This episode is like that crack that starts forming in your windshield and just irritates you more everyday until you replace it so you don't have to think about it any more.

Colorado numbers today:

1,734 cases (21.3 percent increase)
239 hospitalized (29.9 percent increase)
Percentage of hospitalized at 13.8 percent (up from 12.9 percent)
Number of tests at 11,676 (plus 1,554)
Percentage of those tested who came back positive at 14.9 percent (up from 14.1 percent)
31 deaths (plus 7)
9 outbreaks at residential and non-hospital health care facilities (0)

Some trends:

Cases still doubling nearly every three days (912 on March 24, 1,734 today)
After two days of hospitalizations doubling every two days, that tracked back today (239 today vs. 147 on Wednesday), but still doubling in fewer than three days (84 on Tuesday)
Same with deaths. After doubling every two days for three consecutive days, it has come back a bit (31 today vs. 20 on Wednesday, but WAY up from Tuesday when there were 11).
Testing is up. 31 percent of all tests have come back the past two days (3,612 of 11,676)

Sadly, whether or not we play football depends on Trump’s failure to flatten the curve.

If cases spike as expected, we’ll peak in May and everyone who can get ill will do so at a cost of millions of lives. But we’ll be corona-free by August.

If the peak doesn’t happen somehow and we prevent overwhelming our health care system, that necessarily means pushing infections into fall.

So if we play football, it will be in a vastly decimated America. Take your pick: Gridiron or Grandpa.

I really wonder, and fear, that it's too late. There will be no flattening of the curve, no matter the measures being taken.
