Today's Trump slogan, just repeated on Twitter, is "Light at the end of the tunnel" (in all caps, of course). For us olds, that slogan brings back memories. Unhappy ones. Doesn't anyone in the administration remember the Vietnam War?

You can't spell "coronavirus response" without OANN.

Few Americans do this. I guess Trump does. I’ve already agreed he hasn’t done a great job.

Some Americans I know - certainly journalists - think this is a bad country full of crooked systems and terrible people. In the span of a day, you have one poster here looking forward to the day we can deem people useless to the future of the world and another saying we’re getting what we deserve. Seems pretty dark, no? Not at all like American exceptionalism.

My point: Even if the US was doing a great job, it’d be doing a terrible job.

This thing was meant to reinforce our cynicisms.
I perceive this as a dark time, sorry if that hurts the fee-fees.

I wrote that we are getting the leader that we deserved because the American people decided to elect an obviously unqualified and incompetent narcissist and now get to watch him display those traits during a true crisis. American exceptionalism is earned, it’s not a birthright.

There's gonna be a lot of death and a lot of dying. Like you've never seen before. I mean, people died before, but not like this. It's incredible. Every day. Bing, bing, bing. The numbers go up! It's true. But the tests we have are perfect. Beautiful tests. Now, kids in school, they hate tests but they're gonna love these tests, that I can tell ya. Believe me, they're gonna love 'em. And with Ebola, the thing with the Ebola outbreak, or crisis, or whatever you call it and I don't know what to call it and I have a great mind for these types of things is that with Ebola two people died but it seemed so much worse because of who the president was at the time. And he did a terrible job. A terrible job. But now, it could be 50,000, 100,000, 250,000 deaths but that won't seem so bad because I guess that's just the price you have to pay for my perfect leadership.
