Or for anyone who's watched Indy races besides The 500.

Who am I kidding, when baseball returns I won't leave my nerd cave for days.

I do think there's a faulty assumption that people are just itching to watch more television.

"When this is over", as I find myself saying several times a week, I'm going to bars, water parks, comic book stores and all the other shit I've been missing out on.

The thing is, before this is "over" there will be an interim period, maybe quite a long one, where the only way to watch sports is on TV. It will be better than what's on in the sportsless universe of today.

Racing broadcasts the last several years have avoided too many wide-panning shots that show acres of empty seats. But if fans aren't allowed at all, what difference does it make?

Anyone tuning in will know spectators aren't allowed. Buy knowing NASCAR PR, they'll put a happy face on it. Or find a sponsor.

I'm picturing the bleachers at Talladega with "Drink Miller Lite" stretching across three sections of seats.

Sponsorship changed a couple of years ago. It’d be BUSCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

This is the one instance where they probably won't shy away from it, just to show that they're following the appropriate guidelines. Story I read today, though, said there will still be almost 700 people at the track between crews, drivers, support staff, media, etc.

And the truth is that it won't be a bad idea for pit crew people to be wearing masks. Exhaust fumes, etc.

Sixteen people per team, and that includes driver, crew, support staff. Only the top 20 teams will be in the actual garage areas, with the balance of the field set up in “garage areas” in what is normally the driver/VIP camping areas (obviously, with these being 1-day shows they won’t need RV parking). That should mean that in the actual garage area every other space should be empty.
