The data on new cases is imperfect because of variations between states in the amount and frequency of coronavirus testing. As of Wednesday, Florida has confirmed almost 42,000 coronavirus cases, while Georgia has confirmed 35,000 cases.

“Cases [in the U.S.] still continue to expand, and some of that is [due to] the fact that we’re testing more,” former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb said Wednesday on NBC’s The Today Show. Gottlieb cautioned that “this is an epidemic that hasn’t run its course nationally, and hasn’t really started to show sustained declines outside of the New York region.”

 

Pretty well and widely known that we're under-reporting C19 death tolls everywhere. Including Florida Florida medical examiners were releasing coronavirus death data. The state made them stop.

That aside, I think one of the things we're going to experience is a seasonal leveling of infection totals that we'll mistake for a kind of "all-clear."

But we don't know enough about C19 to know if it is seasonal, like flu.

If it is, we need to prepare for a huge second wave of infections when the weather cools this fall.

 

I disagree. There's going to be a sort of English Restoration come out of this.
This might be viewed by posterity as something that had a cleansing aspect.

A gentle reminder that the virus takes like 2-4 weeks to show up in the stats as new cases, hospitalizations and fatalities. My birthday is June 30. By then we'll have a very good idea if the reopening policies are working, or if they aren't.
