Biden may have no choice. If Trump loses, the deplorables are going to be violently pissed. Seeing the defender of their closeted racism and hate get put in irons by the "Deep State" will push them to really take up arms. Short of Trump starting an open insurrection or actually shooting someone in 5th Avenue, I don't see Trump going to jail ending well.

 

Fuck 'em. If he broke the law, is tried and convicted, then he gets what's coming to him. Anyone wants to violently object, well, nice knowin' ya.

 

These assholes showed up like this because they were pissed off they had to stay home for Covid. Imagine if their Trumpenfuhrer was being arrested after losing an election he claims was rigged. And the only way to tell them "it was nice knowing you" is going to require something that will make Waco and Ruby Ridge look like an argument over who farted.

 

Taking up arms against the duly elected government of the United States cannot be tolerated. Of the 100 or so assholes in that photo, maybe one would have the guts/insanity to do so. We need to decide whether people should be held accountable for violating what are supposedly iron-clad principles of public trust.

If there is no accountability, we should just admit that, while the U.S. ideals of a functioning representative republic sounded good and noble, it was all pretty much a marketing ploy.
