A Tom Brady, a Chris Paul, an Alex Rodriguez needs to die of covid before it hits Joe Sixpack.
Herm Cain or 70-year old niche singers don't register.

At 150,000 dead and 1,000 a day dying we still have not hit a big enough die-off to make believers out of the yammerheads.

Nope. It's going to need to be someone relatively young, worshipped by the unwashed multitudes and totally unexpected. (So I have no idea.)

The latest pro-Trump talking points are "where are all the stories about the 2 million who have recovered, or the fact that only 150,000 have died when everybody was forecasting millions?" It's always a diversion to avoid the actual facts. You wanna believe the rantings of a psycho shyster instead of actual science? Go ahead. I'll send flowers for your funeral.

So ... does that mean Europe didn't really take strict measures? Because he said "the rest of the world was taking strict measures." I don't know, but that sounds like Kerr said while the rest of the world took drastic steps to slow the virus, we're too busy arguing about doing the bare minimum.

What about the stories about the survivors who have permanent lung damage or the ones who have developed heart issues? That shit is just getting started.

It means "Europe" is not some monolith that you can ascribe a single attitude or behavior toward, any more than we are.

The UK has one COVID-19 death for every 1,445 people, Italy one for every 1,710. The United States has one for every 2,200. They've been arguing about doing the bare minimum, too.

But we're the abject failures, sitting in the corner with the dunce cap by our lonesomes?

    150,000 dead
In the midst of it we’ve had our head of state FAIL to mobilize the federal govt to address the pandemic and instead said “NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY “
Said head of state also said “open up” and no masks
We are supposed to be the richest country and the world leader

Italy and UK tried to fight and set a better example.

    Yeah, we are the failure.

Italy has just about the worst population imaginable for this disease. It is a country of old people. On top of it, it has a cruddy health care system. Worse than the U.S. in terms of ability to deal with something like this.

And most importantly, on top of that, it became a hotspot before the world had a handle on the virus.

Italy was a warning shot that gave everyone else a heads up to prepare. Most of the other countries in Europe took that warning shot seriously.

What did the U.S. do? We watched what happened to Italy with our collective thumbs up our asses, not using the time and the warning Italy provided to get our shit together. Even when New York and the northeast got hit, giving the rest of the country time to do the things we were learning worked -- most notably, masks and avoiding gatherings -- people in the U.S. ignored every pleading message from the infectious disease experts who had the most to offer us.

We. are. a. nation. of. idiots.
