In this day and age, every police officer should have working video and if they turn it off, they should be severely disciplined.

As your post and BT's post, as well as a shit ton of Law & Order episodes can attest to, it's usually pretty easy for police to get a warrant. Like, the standard for a warrant is often below that of journalistic standards for what should be put in an edition.

Mandatory 5-year prison sentence for any cop who doesn’t have their camera on during any interaction.

Wasn't there a city-wide raid that night? They planned to execute 4 search warrants looking for the ex-boyfriend.

The only one of the four with gunfire was at Breonna's apartment.

I get that, I also understand police and judges are shielded from civil liability if they F up. Which I think leads to careless police work when there are lives on the line (police and civilian). There really is no downside for the police. A big part of the problem with these police incidents is the option is always murder or aquittal. There really should be a statute that covers injury or death by police who are not following training and protocols to the letter.
I could be wrong, but if it was proven there were falsehoods, things the detective couldn't "attest" to, but only guess at with the warrant - wouldn't that put him on the hook for charges beyond perjury. Seriously, they thought Taylor was getting drugs in the mail at that unit. Shouldn't they have had proof of that (an intercepted package) before they busted down the door?

It's time Reebok and the UFC's sponsors tell the UFC to get rid of Colby Covington.

$12m for Breonna Taylor's family yet no charges vs. cops involving any shooting in black rented apartment.

I think this thing challenges that line between "legal" and "right."

Legally, under Kentucky's "Castle Doctrine," Kenneth Walker had every right to defend Breonna Taylor and his property against intruders, which he had every reason to believe the cops were. The cops weren't intruders, however; they had every legal right to be there, as spelled out in the legally executed warrant they were carrying when they busted down that door and did/didn't identify themselves as police. If there are guns involved in a situation like that, well, they're gonna go off.

All perfectly legal. None of it right. And a young woman is dead because of it.

The Fourth Amendment, Castle Doctrine, and no-knock warrants simply cannot coexist in a civilized society.

If Biden wins his AG will swoop in civil rights violation charges. I sincerely hope for both things to happen.

According to the AG, it was not a no-knock warrant. The AG said the cops knocked and announced themselves.

I’m applying what I believe to be appropriate skepticism to any sentence that begins with the words “Police say ... ” but I acknowledge your point.
