Not sure he rates a thread, but Ron Perranoski was one of the first standout relief pitchers and pitching coach for two championships teams.

Still 83rd on the career games pitched list. Roy Face is 39th. Hoyt Wilhelm is sixth. Don McMahon is in the top 40. Those are guys I think of when specializing in relief pitching really was in its infancy,

I saw this in a Facebook post more than 6 hours ago, but could not find it on any news sources. I even saw a Tweet from Bobby's Bar and Grill, the best hangout in Vero Beach (it was called Bobby's III when I was there).
Very sad that three notable Dodgers die in a week -- Jay Johnstone, Sweet Lou Johnson and Ron Perranoski.

He was also very good for the Twins teams that won the AL West in 1969 and 1970 but got steamrolled by the Orioles in the ALCS. Martin brought him back for the 1972 Tigers, who won the AL East, but he didn't last there all season.

Yeah. Most complete teardown/rebuilds take 2-3 managers and a couple GMs -- separate guys for the teardown/bottom-out phases, the talent accumulation and finally the get-serious-about-winning phase.

When the team is gonna start trying to win again, you usually don't want the people who were running the show when you lost 97-107-96 games in consecutive years.

No playoff games on a Saturday with no nfl and nba competition.
    Fucking smart

The delay was more to have pitching rotations lined up for LDS' and with no off days for anyone, they are going M-F with games every day, assuming someone goes 5 games.

And if Miami had lost Friday, they would have played this afternoon.
