Yeah, it's still strange to write "my mom's boyfriend," even though my dad died 20+ years ago. She gives me hope that I'll find love at age 79! My mom and her boyfriend met on OK Cupid, another sentence I never thought I'd write.
I saw her tonight, briefly. Have never seen her so exhausted. They get a half hour break for lunch and the rest of the time is, like I mentioned, very much diligent factory work. Little chatting (no politics!), no cell phones, not even a moment to stretch the legs.
But she'll be there tomorrow, bright and early, and says they feel safe now with so much law enforcement surrounding the building. Most of her fellow ballot counters are retirees, or people out of work because of COVID, and given the demographics in Arizona it's likely the majority of workers are Republicans.
Alex Jones, the evil Sandy Hook-truther, is leading the protests tonight. And since it's Arizona, most everyone's packing guns. Democracy!
