I think there's zero chance Lawrence actually returns to school... but a decent chance he tells the Jets that he will never, ever sign there.

I think someone earlier in the thread mentioned that the practice squad size was increased to 16ish this year, which still strikes me as too small. But kind of like the MLB owners with the contraction of the minors, the NFL has always struck me as penny-wise and pound foolish. Yeah, you "save" expenses by essentially designating the NCAA as your minor league, but you're probably missing on more Kurt Warner types by not actually having a competitive minor league that runs at the same time. And in situations like this year, it would have helped with substitution issues.

I have Hill, Derrick Henry and Antonio Gibson in my lineup. Not bad.

It probably would, but how many quarterbacks would a team have? I'm not sure what the Broncos did, but most teams have four. Why not keep at least one away from the others as much as possible? Part of the problem is if a team does have to bring in someone new, they can't just play the next day under the current rules. The Broncos didn't have time to get a quarterback cleared for Sunday's game.

The Ravens should have enough guys, but they are going to be very thin in a few spots. If they actually play tomorrow night, it is actually going to be the first game that overall lack of depth is an issue due to COVID.

I wonder if the league will cancel if the Ravens have more positive tests today. I can't imagine they have much of a choice. Maybe the Steelers have their situation contained, but the Ravens certainly do not. That would leave three options:
    1. Cancel the game for now and reschedule for Week 18, which seems to be the most likely scenario. I guess they could cancel entirely if the game is meaningless, but that seems unlikely.
    2. Force the Ravens to forfeit, which seems like the least likely option.
    3. Postpone until Thursday, then push the next games for Pittsburgh and Baltimore back from next Sunday to the following Tuesday. This is a terrible option for both teams. I forget where I read about it, but I guess the idea is that it gets the schedule back on track by Week 13. It would also show the league doesn't give a damn about safety if they force a very short-handed Ravens team to play with only four days rest between the two games. It wouldn't be great for the Steelers, either. That would be a hell of a way for the '72 Dolphins to end up popping champagne.

I wish I could freelance Romo to tell my bosses all of the excuses for why I screw up newscasts.

The league cancelled Baltimore's practice today. Just to make things even more fun, there is snow in the forecast for Pittsburgh tomorrow morning, so getting the Ravens there could also be an issue. Oy.

Darnold hasn't been good at all. Some of that is on the crap he's been throwing to. Some of it is on him. Having Gase as a head coach is a major problem. it's hard to believe there's a worst coach in professional sports across the board. That being said Flacco has been miles better in the few starts he's gotten with the same personnel.

As for Lawrence, I don't get the impression he's going to pull a power play. For one thing Archie ain't his Dad.

Dateline Baltimore: Source: Ravens practice canceled amid outbreak

Also, the Ravens haven’t yet decided if they’re taking one or two planes, or even when they’re going to Pittsburgh given the snowstorm that’s expected to roll through western Pennsylvania.

This is all clearly designed to screw the Steelers, obv.

I was led to believe for years from the Ravens-friendly national media that this organization did all the little things right.

Because that is really obviously not the case.
