I forgot about the mail-in for the Boba Fett action figure until you mentioned it. It was probably the only now of the mail-aways that I got. And yes, I was pissed when I discovered that the rocket didn't launch as advertised. If I remember correctly, it was a Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viper that fired the spring-loaded projectile that ended up in a kid's throat. I did have that one, as well as a Cylon Raider that did the same thing. I think they actually tried to recall those, but I wasn't hearing it, so my mother just took all of the projectiles. Sadly, I lost all of that stuff somewhere along the way.

The really tough get was Yoda. It wasn't a mail-away toy, but the early shipments to stores were tiny. The big stores were immediately sold out, but there was a neighborhood newsstand that sold toys. The owner heard about adults snatching up all the rare figures, so he hid them behind the counter and only sold them to the local kids who were good customers. (It's weird the stuff you remember.)

I also remember watching the holiday special live. Speaking of that....

So we are on uncharted waters right now, correct? We have the players but what they are doing is new, right?

I’m guessing the endgame for Mandolorian is all of these characters will eventually stop some crazy weapon from being created that the Empire would have used to rule the galaxy and alter our current timeline.

God, everyone is going to lose their shit when a young Kylo popps up in this.

The beauty of this, and Marvel, is watching these is like you and your friends bringing all your action figures together for an imaginary adventure, but here you are watching it unfold on TV.

I'm not sure if they want to "taint" this show with Rise of Skywalker bullshit, but depending on how long they manage to keep Grogu, you can draw a line from him to Snoke / enhanced clones with Jedi blood. At the least, it seems like it's going to show us how the First Order rose - It's five or six years after Return of the Jedi, and it seems like the New Republic either can't rout the Empire's remnants from these outer worlds, or they don't care enough to.

re: The most recent episode, loved it. The only thing that bugged me was something The Watch podcast guys brought up, which they didn't think of as it happened either - Given what a bad ass Boba Fett is shown to be, it's weird that he didn't just go grab his armor off that goofy ass Timothy Oliphant.

I’ve seen this mentioned elsewhere and my best explanation is that we don’t know how recently or long ago Boba escaped the Sarlacc Pit, or when or how he lost the armor in the first place, or how long it took him to recover from his injuries.

It’s entirely possible that when we see him in the first episode, that’s the first time he saw the armor since he lost it.

that last paragraph nails it. I get the feeling that this is just something Favreau made up as a kid playing with various Kenner toys. And it is awesome for it.

It is possible for the framework, though he has worked in a lot of material from the sequels, the animated series, and even a few things from the new novels that are canon. (Olyphant's character was in one of the novels.) You can definitely see Filoni's influence, moreso now with Ahsoka Tano in the show.

That's true, though we did see him in season one. Clearly, he was the one who found Fennec Sand.

Right, but I’m saying that when he sees Din speeding away in the season premiere, it’s likely that’s the first time he saw his armor since losing it, thus he couldn’t have taken it off the Marshal.

That is possible. There seems to be some classic Star Wars plot convenience at play here, but given the overall quality of what we're seeing, I am happy to ignore it.

I had the whole collection of bounty hunters that had a total combined 30 seconds of screen time in Empire.

Yeah, it’s funny, my first reaction to the query about Boba was that he had a whole planet to search, and it could take years to find the armor. Then I figured if Mando can find every person he needs by just getting directed to a particular planet, that explanation wasn’t good enough.

To your point, sometimes it’s better not to overthink these things and enjoy the ride.

Boba isn't quite as svelte in that armor as he was in Jedi.
