“White Heat” starring Jimmy Cagney from ‘49. He and Edward G Robinson perfected the sneering vicious gangster persona of the day. ‘You dirty rahhht, you killed my brother’.

Bogart, who in his early days was typecast as the heavy, said he knew he'd made it as a leading man/big-time star when he got to kill Edward G. Robinson (without getting killed himself) in Key Largo, after Robinson had killed him in several previous films.

Cagney killed Bogart in several movies, too.

    Pride of the Yankees.

I know it has its cheesy parts, but the scene where Gehrig looks at his wife and walks back to the dugout after deciding to end the streak always gets me a little.

And just FYI, Gehrig really did play a game the day he got married, having called the mayor of New Rochelle on the spur of the moment (after an argument with his mother) to perform the ceremony in his and Eleanor's new apartment while workmen were getting things delivered and set up. And he really did get a police escort from the apartment to Yankee Stadium.

    Tremendous list.

When I was a kid --probably 13 or so? -- my dad took me to a revival theater to see a double bill of "Freaks" and "Eraserhead." That was a hell of a night.

Saw "Titticut Follies" in a documentary class in college. That's a powerful film and one I do not need to see a second time.
