Republicans had a chance in April 2016 to stop the crazy train and get behind one acceptable candidate. They let the free market decide: Their voters went to Trump. The party deserves everything it gets.

 

You made me go back and check the primary results that year. Trump didn't get 50 percent or better until April when he won NY (59 percent) Ted and Marco pretty much split the establishment vote - if either of them stepped aside or if the party elders weighed in like they did with the Dems in 2020 - they could have stopped Trump. But like the rise of the tea party, the GOP was addicted to the buzz Trump brought to the party.
