I think doctors have a much better understanding of the peanut than they do of COVID-19, which was only identified a year ago. Do better with your comparisons.

One place I do think Fauci and his Canadian counterpart, Dr. Tam, mucked up was masks.

At the beginning, they told us masks were not effective. What they really meant was, "We need masks for our medical practitioners, don't hoard them." But they didn't say that. And it warped everything. Before masks were mandatory, I tweeted an article from a science/medical journal saying masks should be worn. Holy cow, were my mentions a tire fire.

I understand things can change and science evolves. But this one was misdirection. And, even if for a noble cause, it had long-lasting consequences.

This is true, but it was an error that could have been fixed if not for President Trump's leadership in the wrong direction.

If I recall correctly, there also was debate about whether masks truly were effective — especially since we didn’t think COVID was as widespread as it was. It didn’t magically enter the country in February once those folks got off the cruise ship, given all the travel it was probably here in early January at the latest.

That can be the case. But that doesn't mean it's impossible for them to lie. And Fauci has openly admitted to such lying.

Rubio's been making stuff up since his boy Guaidó tried to become president of Venezuela.

I agree. That's why I said "No, it doesn't" when Starman said basically what you just said.

As in, "No, it doesn't mean the scientist was lying."

How Much Herd Immunity Is Enough?

This is not surprising. It's been obvious he's doing things like this all along, and it's fundamentally his job to do things like this. While his training may be as a scientist, his day job has been as a politician and it has been for quite some time. It is his job to influence behavior.

The right has been attacking him so we *must* defend him, because the left only defines itself by "not the right" these days.

I'm not even saying he's wrong to do it. He's got a tough job trying to herd the cats in America, and apparently he thought this was necessary. But it is what he has done.

It is not his job to lie, and he shouldn’t be.
