How Congress people can go back to work alongside Cruz, Brooks, Hawley, etc., vile degenerates who endangered their lives, is beyond me.

This actually happened in 2017 to Kris Kobach, the Kansas wanna be governor/senator who built his career on finding “voter fraud.” Trump put him in charge of the commission to find the 5 million non-citizen votes he claimed were counted in California and around the country.

I’m not sure anyone in the country was more motivated to find illegal votes that Kris Kobach, who for a few brief moments was a GOP rising star.

Believe it or not — and you probably won’t because this is fucking wild — he didn’t find a god damn thing and resigned a few months the later, before going on to lose the governor’s house to a Democrat in Kansas, and his senate primary this cycle.

Of course I remember this. But they swept the findings under the rug. Making them release what they found before a joint session, on national TV, would prevent that.

I'm not the only one sitting right in the middle of this, but you're all hinting at what I'm starting to see with much more clarity. The modern Klan is way more aligned with the traditional Klan than the stereotypical "dumb working class rednecks" that the rest of the country believes is behind Trump's base.

The Klan was made up of the local leaders of the day. If you could snatch the hoods off, you'd find the judge, the grocery store owner, the mayor hiding underneath more often than not.

No sir or ma'am. The modern Klan has traded white hoods to intimidate for the ability to hide behind social media disinformation and media platforms that play directly to their own dreams of supremacy.

In addition to the Internet crazies, it was off-duty police officers, CEOs of companies, lawyers, bankers and military veterans who made up the mob on Wednesday. And they aren't just SEC values, as hopefully upcoming arrests will show. This is a wide swath of the country: so far I've read of activity from residents of Michigan, Indiana, and California, among others.

These people flew to Washington D.C. They have the money, the time and the motivation. These aren't people living in trailer parks. They own mansions and private planes.

These are intelligent, well-paid, corporate executives and community leaders. In my neighborhood alone, the dyed-in-the-wool Trumpists on my street happen to be a professional balloonist, the vice president of the local community college and the PGA club pro at the country club. The school board? The county commission? The sheriff? All part of the Klan here. Never mind the lower-middle class. These are people with money and power. That's way more dangerous than the dude working at the lumberyard or ACE hardware store.

The GOP doesn't survive on $5 or $10 donations from the huddled masses. The $1 million donors are bankrolling this modern Klan.

As someone said earlier in the thread, we have no idea now if the conspiracy theorists are the ones teaching our children, flying the plane or even protecting our lives. And who knows when they'll snap like the pharmacist in Wisconsin who ruined hundreds of doses of COVID vaccine because he believed the conspiracy of dunces?

Donald Trump will go away but the Klan is here to stay. They'll find ways to stay in power. Domestic terrorism is now our worst fear come to fruition.

My screaming was more directed at the people who before this week thought Trump White House would look good on their resumes.
