My son who turns two years old today wants to fight you. He is IN LOVE with Lilly.

He’ll stop whatever he is doing and beam at her.

Note: I have just learned that I am Hermes' son.

 

I used to think Lilly was absolutely adorable, but I'm kind of over her now. Not sure why. Maybe it has something to do with how they've started changing her hairstyle for every commercial.

 

Growing-up-in-Chicagoland edition:

"Five-eight-eight, two-three-hundred ... EMPIRE!"

I used that jingle (with numbers changed) to memorize my cell phone number.

 

This is a very deep pull but Triumph, Conan's insult comic dog, used that line in a visit to the Weiner Circle.

Baby MMSW learned to sing along with the radio ads, right down to the ending: "Empire ... today ... duhnt."

 

They had that ad in Atlanta, too.

 

I grew up with, "Now you have a friend in the diamond business. The Shane Company, 11th floor of the Gas-Light Tower, Peachtree Center, one block south of the Hyatt Regency."

And, "Plaza Pharmacy, Ponce de Leon and Highland, is never closed. ... Our six registered pharmacists work round the clock, carefully checking each prescription..."

And, "That'd be Nalley. You take your I-85 South, take your Stewart Avenue exit, take a right and there it is on the left."

Not from Chicago-land, but had WGN on......I still remember watching that commercial during The Bozo Show.
