Those same senators—especially ones from more moderate states—are going to hear about it when they are up for election in next year or in 24 that they let an obviously guilty guy off the hook

And if any federal prosecutors are listening, the evidence won't be thrown away any time soon.

 

But does the current administration have access to ALL calls as it should?

If you're a Trump fan, after today, how comfortable are you sending Tweedledee and Tweedledum back out there to make your opening statement? I can hear it now: "Mr. President, Mr. Trump couldn't have instigated this. He had his fingers crossed behind his back as he was speaking."

 

Most of the Republican Senators from purple or most but not totally red states who're up in 2022 are retiring. Toomey in Pa., Portman in Ohio, Burr in N.C. Trumpist supreme Ron Johnson in Wisconsin is an exception. Hell, even Grassley might retire, since I think he gets fully vested in his Spanish-American war pension.
