Here's what I can't figure out about guys like Cruz, Rubio, Scott, Hawley and any of the other flamethrowers who have presidential aspirations:
I understand you guys doing anything you can to keep Trump in office. The facade was obvious: you want an open field in 2024.
But now that Biden's in and there's not a damn thing they can do about it, why not vote to convict the bastard? That way, he's completely out of the picture for 2024. I have to think like any other Republican, they care more about themselves than anything.
If Trump walks, and he's in the race four years from now (provided he's not in jail or so bankrupt he won't have the money to run), those guys will be irrelevant.
And if they think it will inflame the Trump base, so what? Memories are short in politics and if it's Cruz or Hawley vs. Biden or Harris in 2024, where are they going to go?

Cruz, Hawley and that lot are hitching their wagon to the Trump train with the bet that Twitchy will decide to be a kingmaker and not the king in 2024. If he does indeed run, they'll defer to 2028 and hope to snag a veep slot.
