For the sake of argument, let’s say there is a consequential issue one day in which Senators uniformly keep their thoughts secret, telling nobody before the vote.
    1) Are Senate roll-call votes always conducted alphabetically rather than randomly?
    2) If so, aren’t the As and Bs at a disadvantage relative to the Ts and Ws?
Let’s say Tuberville doesn’t know how he’ll vote because he doesn’t understand the issue. I know we’re going out on a limb here. But when he hears how Cruz and Graham vote, he figures it out. Cruz, on the other hand, doesn’t get the benefit of hearing as many others’ votes before he casts his.

No. Once the phone call was broken last night, it had to happen. They need to get as much of this as possible documented and on the record. If they want to lie, great. Once the 1/6 Commission does a full investigation there are potential perjury charges. If they did not pursue this, the talking point will be how they impeached but never produced any evidence or witnesses. Nail down the facts. Nail down sworn witness statements. Make some people actually accountable for what happened, whether it is Trump or his enablers. History will judge this after all the facts are out. This is the foundation, build it right.

If it delays a Covid vote, people need to start raging and calling their Congresscritter and pushing them to act.

My assumption, based on his limited knowledge of anything to do with Roberts Rules of Order, is that Tuberville's only option is to defer to the second half.

They're just gonna have Herrera-Buetler's statement entered into the record and then vote. That's what the Senate Democrats want because an unfortunate minority of the caucus are weak-kneed lily-livered losers who hate having to do anything except fundraise. To repeat: Nothing but nothing would be delayed by the trial continuing next week but a Senate recess. These disgraces would rather go on vacation than do their duty.

Now they've voted NOT to hear witnesses? WTF?
