I don’t think the heavy stuff’s gonna come down for quite a while.

NASCAR broadcasts should always prepare a game room each week - with a pop a shot, pool table, ping pong etc. - then bring the drivers in during the rain, allow them to compete, talk up their sponsors etc and interact a bit. It might make things a bit more interesting.

One silver lining for the media this year -- they can probably get out to International Speedway Boulevard and grab something to eat, instead of press room food. That's not usually the case with 140,000 fans there.

I have made an In 'N Out run at California Speedway back in the day.

I waited out a god-awful cold Saturday rain at Talladega a few years ago (the weekend that David Ragan won the Cup race). I wound up parking my shriveled and shivering old butt right near a gyros-and-fries stand so I could: 1) draft off the heat; and 2) partake liberally of the fries as my metabolism called for.

I have decade-old Force interviews that I can't bear to delete off my recorder, they're just too entertaining -- and, yeah, I don't have to hear my own voice at all.

I'm old enough to remember when the best food around Bristol was King's service station across the road from the track. You couldn't beat their ham and cheese sandwiches. You'd eat one in the parking lot before the race and get a second to take in with you.
