I'm becoming more and more convinced Bam Bam is going to win this thing.

Besides his unreal drives, the man has made a bunch of clutch putts.

I'm still rooting for Matthew Wolff and his cool swing.

Can someone please tell Dan Hicks and NBC that Tiger Woods is NOT playing! Stop showing his highlights and constantly mentioning him. The ridiculous Tiger worship drives me nuts.

Completely agree. When not one, but two guys in contention for the Open each make eagle putts and all Hicks can do is talk about Tiger, it's just embarrassing. I know the golf business doesn't want to hear this, but Woods will never appear in another tournament. It'll be a big win if he can walk around the course when he's Ryder Cup captain in 2022 or 3 or whenever they're having it.

I don't disagree with the sentiment. But that's not happening.

Woods moves the needle, casual fans still talk about him, want to know how he's doing and the guess here is that some are wondering what he would do right now if he weren't recovering from the crash some months back. It's why he continues to be mentioned. I get your greater point and I don't disagree with this being excessive ... but, bottom line, NBC and the other media outlets providing coverage believe that for every person who feels like you, hundreds or even thousands of others do not.

Hmmm ... should his fans become the Wolffpack?

Looooie is so overdue, especially after coming close again at the PGA. That putt on 18 was nails.

The intro today was cool, setting up the 72nd hole putt with interviews with Westwood, Karlsson, Phil.

Rooting for a playoff tomorrow so NBC can't go away at 8 p.m. Pretty lame scheduling there.

There's a limit, or rather, a statute of limitations. Woods' win at Torrey, IMO his most dramatic major win, was 13 years ago. It is certainly worth noting and discussing during the course of these extremely long broadcasts, but it is frankly insulting to the actual competitors to continually make them seem like imitations of a player who is now for all intents and purposes, a ghost, a legend whose day is done. When Justin Rose won at Merion in 2013, NBC wasn't dragging the spirit of Ben Hogan into the event every third shot. I understand. Woods was golf's greatest gravy train, more than Arnie even. And the folks riding the train are reluctant to hear the conductor say "end of the line." But even broadcast sports journalism, even GOLF broadcast sports journalism, is supposed to have a commitment to accuracy, or anyway an attempt at accuracy.

    I agree.

Don't confuse what I said with trying to defend the consistent slobbering. It's a bit much. But there's a reason it's occurring and it's not necessarily because everyone in the production truck is on the Eldrick train.

At one point, one of the announcers said Wolff was β€œin the pack at 3 under.”

Perhaps forcing a decision between golf and the Olympic Trials. Got a copy of "Heidi" handy?
