If he wins, a lot of them.

If not, he’s just an annoying guy.

As noted philosopher Crash Davis once observed, “If you win 20 in the Show, you can let the fungus grow back on your shower shoes and the press'll think you're colorful. Until you win 20 in the Show, however, it means you are a slob.”

A guy in my senior golf league has all-same length irons. Got 'em over the winter. He swears they help him, although his scores are not notably lower this season. He's still erratic, great some days, awful some others.

Seems odd to watch The Open and not be updated on the Fed Ex Playoffs standings every shot. What is wrong with the brits??

This is a little "inside baseball," but I'm wondering if NBC is delaying the International feed slightly -- perhaps by 5-8 seconds -- so that the guys in the studio can get a heads up from the producer (who may be able to hear the British commentary or has direct communication with the truck at Royal St. Georges) as to what's next in the feed, because I can tell you there's a fascinating randomness to what players and holes they're showing at any given time.

I'm really impressed because it still appears seamless. But there's no way the studio hosts can identify Dean Burmester from a crane cam in the middle of the seventh fairway without a heads up from somebody. I got a peak behind the curtain when they showed Molinari without a graphic and you could tell the guys in Hartford couldn't identify him at first.

For example, they just cut to an impromptu Peter Alliss tribute at the No. 1 hole, which could have been previously taped and inserted into the broadcast -- or used to cover up the discrepancies between the US commercial breaks and the UK ones.

In any case, I like seeing how other countries broadcast the sport. It's not "follow the leader" or "follow the big names." I have no idea what priority there is, other than show everybody teeing off at 1 and finishing at 18, plus whoever's ready to hit next. It's refreshing.

Spieth has played his first four holes with no pars: birdie-birdie-bogey-birdie.

Bam Bam with back-to-back bogeys. And I believe he used 3-wood on the first tee instead of his Cobra driver. Waaaah.

If there’s a delay it’s matched closely to Open Radio, currently reporting on a runaway cart. Hilarious.

I expect they’re getting the pool director or producer track along with Tom Roy in their ear. Considering NBC has something like 30 feeds coming in (according to a tech story I read yesterday) there’s no reason they couldn’t put together their own show. They have access to every camera, though not necessarily control.

This is a bit like how ABC did it for years, with 6-8 cameras of their own and leaning on BBC for the rest. You would get the odd shot of someone you never heard of making a 6.

Looooie is on a heater; seemingly a great guy so easy to root for him but I want a close leaderboard for the weekend.
