The more interesting part of that to me was Oklahoma City looking to poach the baseball tournament. I’ve never been, but I imagine downtown OKC doesn’t have parking for a couple hundred RVs, which has been a huge factor in keeping it in Hoover previously, even before they started the renovations to add a bunch of amenities.

What would make sense is taking the softball tournament out of the campus rotation and sending it to Oklahoma City as an appetizer before the WCWS.

Yeah. UT and OU are in for a number of culture shocks.

I can't wait for their first games in Starkvegas with all the cowbells.

The Horns actually only have two wins over TCU since the Horned Frogs joined the Big 12.

Assuming Texas and OU actually stick around the Big 12 through the 2024 season, he'll probably be fired or run screaming naked into a cornfield by then and won't have to worry about it.

As long as they get their money, they don't care about the good of the game or anyone else playing it.

What a steaming chunk of crap that take is.
"The SEC should move out of Birmingham because it's not hip and trendy enough." Which is basically code for, "When I go to media days in July I want to go some place cooler than Birmingham."
    Good lord.

One of the great things about Birmingham is how centralized and accessible it is to so much of the conference. Nashville probably has more flights these days, but Birmingham is a driveable location for at least half of the league's members. If you're in one of the new western outposts that's something you should bake into the cake when deciding whether you want to join or not.

By extension, it's also highly likely that having the baseball tournament in Hoover is a big part of its success. Not only have they done a great job hosting it over the years, but it's an event most fans can make a quick two- or three-day trip to on the spur of the moment. For most of the league, especially the current baseball powers, you don't need to go to the hassle and expense of booking a last-minute flight. Just buy your tickets, book the hotel, hop in the car and go. If you leave first thing in the morning you can be there in time for lunch.
Putting the tournament in Oklahoma City would be a disaster, like that time they put the basketball tournament in Tampa and nobody showed up. I'm sure Oklahoma City would do a great job hosting it, but it's not going to draw the same casual crowd that enjoys taking a couple days off from work for a quick family or guys' road trip.

They’re quoting some dude who works at a sports talk station in South Carolina. If this ever happens for real, he won’t be the one breaking the story.
