David Axelrod was cut from the final list. ... but Beyonce wasn't.

The cream of elite US troops had Osama Bin Laden trapped at Tora Bora. Donald Rumsfeld ordered them to stand by and delegated the capture to Afghan militia. Bin Laden escaped to Pakistan. If Bin Laden had been caught, we would have packed up and left Afghanistan. Instead we installed an occupying military force. In "the graveyard of empires."

I still have a lot of trouble accepting that longtime gov't administrators Rumsfeld, Cheney & co. did that by accident.

Who would you rather spend your birthday with?

    It’s not a situation room. It’s a party.

I really doubt Axelrod has ever been his “friend.” I doubt either one saw themselves as friends, despite however they had to portray the relationship for election purposes.

I never invited my editors to my birthday parties.

I don’t know what everyone is wailing about. Northrop Grumman and Lockeed Martin made a killing on this war.

Plus you don’t want to draw the ire of “the Bey hive” (eyeroll) if news leaks.

And now they can get more government contracts to make more weapons to replace the ones lost to the Taliban when we inevitably have to go back there and fight again. Win-win!

He said it about Iraq but it applies here too:
“We will be looked upon as liberators.”

Alexander has been dead for going on 2,400 years.
Humans aren't real quick to catch on, apparently.

The point isn't that Beyonce is more fun at a party than David Axelrod.

Look, he's entitled to have whatever party he wants for his 60th birthday. No arguments.

He's also an ex president and a very public figure. Which is what makes it fair game to comment on it when he opts for a nouveau riche display of vulgarity at a pretty inopportune time. This comes with the territory, yet there are people who are so blinded by their love for the guy that they won't even acknowledge that party for the star-fucker fest that it was.

Let's not pretend like it was a little gathering of his good friends Bruce Springstein, George Clooney, Jay Z, Steven Speilberg, Oprah, Bradley Cooper (do I even need to go through the rest of the guest list?). ... on a $12 million estate with lavish food, top-shelf liquor and a total cost that was probably somewhere between $10 and $20 million dollars. ... where the guest list was culled down to mostly the pretty people. ... who took over the Vineyard with their private jets, which were let through the Secret-Service enforced no-fly zone so they could get to the party.

No offense. I am sure your birthday party was a big deal, and that like most of us, you didn't invite all of your work colleagues. But trying to make parallels between your life and an ex president who lives in the public spotlight and as much as any former politician used that spotlight to curate his image, doesn't make me go, "yeah, that's the same thing."

Nah ... he doesn't look like Barry (the only Gibb brother still alive ... and, yes, turn that into a "Stayin' Alive" joke).
