Every time one of these congressional assholes criticizes the withdrawal, the reporter should immediately ask him/her, "Ok, how many more deaths would you accept before it's the proper time to leave?"

The calls from Republicans to impeach are hilarious. If the GOP wins the House in 2022, there will be Benghazi-style hearings on this for two years.

As much as I think Trumpists deserve to die for willfully endangering tens of millions of their fellow citizens, I also know Abbott is vaccinated. He has to be. So if he dies, he will become a martyr for the cause of killing off The Vaccine That Doesn’t Work. No Trumpists will get a shot thereafter. Ever. And we will never beat this thing.

From about the Seventies midway into the nineties, "bleeding heart judges" letting off "thugs" and "punks" on "technicalities" was a favorite whipping horse for the "right-wingers," the law-and-order" types.
No wait, really it really took wing after the Miranda decision in the 60s: the very idea cops couldn't beat confessions out of people or put guns to their heads really set the John Birchers off, with endless snarky references to the "presumption of innocence."

So sometime in the Eighties or so, the righties decided to weaponize it: to use the presumption of innocence as their excuse for breaking every fucking law they could think of.
Why go to the trouble of setting up legitimate defenses when you can just say, "fuck it, I must be presumed innocent not only beyond a reasonable doubt, but beyond any credible doubt, beyond any conceivable doubt ... I must be presumed innocent utterly regardless of any evidence; I must be presumed innocent regardless of having committed the crime in full public view."
