I was in a league with some coworkers, some former coworkers and a few other people. I was working with the commish on the desk, and after deadline, we did the pick order. He did tell everyone beforehand, so they knew what to expect, but a couple of them were kinda uneasy about how we were going to do it.

So the commish decides to do it like the NBA lottery. 12 large manilla envelopes. 12 teams. One team in each envelope. He shows me the name of each team before he puts in in the envelope. Then he shuffled the envelopes, and handed them to me. I did more shuffling, then commish took each envelope, laid them down from 1 through 12. Sure enough, he ends up with the first pick, and I end up with the second. He looks at me and was like "we DID both shuffle them. You DID see I was trying to make this legit, right?" I agree, but we decide that it's going to look shitty to everyone else. So we both shuffle the envelopes again, and re-draw. Sure enough, I ended up with the third pick this time, and the commish still ended up with the first pick.

A few guys grumbled, but the commish told them I was a witness and how we had done the shuffling and the draw twice.

They definitely should plan the draft date around your vacation plans.

Caught two league owners in collusion.

With 20 minutes or so before the Monday night game, owner sits Jamal Charles so his buddy can win and have a better shot at the playoffs.

After the fact, find out guy who sat Charles has filed for bankruptcy three times in his life, lives in debtors court and has a horrible gambling problem.

I understand there are ways to do it. I was asking what process they use in that specific league.

I did it because it was something to do and me and my betting partner/best friend thought it would be fun as we had never done NFL fantasy. At this point, I get more pleasure out of my Draft Kings account which we share. Got what I only assume was a drunk text from the one person I would call somewhat a friend in the league and he wrote that everyone is mad at me. I chose not to respond in anger.

Everybody has a smart phone, why not just video the drawing so everyone knows its on the up and up

its very possible you’ve been randomly scewed many years in a row. I dont blame you for wanting to see the draw though. Not sure I’d quit a league over it on the other hand

I was commissioner of our office league the last few years it existed. We originally had two divisions of five teams each, and one of the first tiebreakers was division record. Unfortunately, we also picked four of the six playoff teams regardless of division, which made that tiebreaker irrelevant for teams in opposite divisions.
It wasn't an issue until the year we ended up with a six-way tie for the last three playoff spots and no clear-cut process in the rulebook for breaking it. Had a couple of people quit the league over that one.

I reckon I’ll be the first to say it: Nobody cares about your fantasy team.

Life's too short to deal with jackoffs. Having a draft in secret is shitty. Move on.

The fantasy league I've been in 15 years just did the draft order over Zoom today. It was fun. It's not that hard to be transparent.

It's probably been longer since I took discrete, but I get .13 percent chance of a bottom-four (ninth or worse) for six consecutive years.

    Actually, it’s a lot worse. 1/3 x 6 is 1/18th or a 6 percent chance.
