One point to remember when discussing the topic of a president launching unprovoked nuclear strikes is that Joint Chiefs officers are the only individuals other than Secret Service agents allowed to carry live firearms in the vicinity of the president.

This whole "Trump thinks he won" exists because GOP leadership is a bunch of enablers with no nut sacks.

    1. I don't care what McConnell's advice was at the time, Biden should have called Trump and told him to get over the election right then and there.
    2. The fact that Trump is lashing out at Milley for TREASON! only proves that his own cabinet should have invoked the 25th well before 1/6.

It's behind a paywall, so I can't read it, but USA Today has a story: Trump Breaks Norms Again, Resisting the former "President's Club"

Uhhhhhhhh, I'd wager all the folding money in my pocket that he's more shunned than resisting.

Silver may be having a crisis of confidence. All the polls 538 has tracked in the last month showed Newsom winning, with most predicting a double-digit spread. But who trusts the polls anymore?

Oh I agree, but Congress still codified it in the War Powers Act as a back handed way of also saying, "you still need to consult us."

The polls ended up accurately predicting Newsom would survive, but it also assumed Dems would actually show up. If they didn't—if we got a 30 percent turnout rather than the nearing 50 percent—this would have swung.

All this is more evidence that the new president needs to be inaugurated on Dec. 1, not on Jan. 20. As is being proved, nothing more dangerous that a crazy lame-duck president who refuses to follow centuries of post-election tradition.

England handles a peaceful change of government almost overnight. No reason we can't either.
