The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, located in Little Rock, is seeking a versatile sports designer to join our desk.

The primary responsibility is to design pages, but sound editing and writing experience are also needed with the position. We pride ourselves on having a versatile staff that works as a team.

This is not a hub. This is not designing 30 pages for six papers in one night, although there are some nights where changes will be required for other editions.

The job requires night time and weekend work.

Experienced and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Little Rock is the capital city of Arkansas with a population of nearly 600,000 in the metro area. There are plenty of entertainment options inside the city, and various state parks and outdoor activities are within an hour’s drive. The area has a little something for everyone.

Applicants should submit a resume, cover letter and five design samples to Assistant Sports Editor Frankie Frisco at ffrisco@adgnewsroom.com. References will be required upon request.

This is a good opportunity to work with a group of veteran editors and designers who do their jobs well, produce solid sections daily and have fun in the process. Frankie is a great guy to work for. He knows his stuff, treats you well and is a strong leader who fosters a team effort. A late deadline with the ability to update for the digital edition after print is out means they get things in that might not make it into other papers, thus making for a complete product for the readers. The Little Rock region is a great place with a relatively low cost of living. If you're still hungry these days to help produce a strong sports section you can be proud of, this is a job to consider.
