This sounds like a total clusterf*ck. Why would anybody want to clean up this mess?

Well it doesn't seem like the paper does since the ad was posted months ago and no one has been hired.

It’s been three weeks since I last posted and … what’s that I hear? Crickets?

The Whig announced a change in newsroom leadership over the weekend. Executive editor Jason Lewton resigned and they promoted from within. Also, heading into Week 9 and the final week of the prep football regular season, still no staffers covering sports.

I managed to snare a hard copy of this past Saturday's edition from a family member. The open sports position was in the classifieds. Former sports editor Don O'Brien (a terrific guy) had a pair of football gamers. My guess is Don's stringing. Last I heard he was an investigator for the Better Business Bureau.

As of this past Halloween Sunday, it was still looking. Position was still running in the classifieds.

They finally found someone. Craig Sesker got the position, as he previously comes from the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier:

Just in time for football season. Oops. I mean, just in time for basketball season.

I believe they had a sports editor and sports writer on staff. Wonder if they will be filling the sports writer position, or if that's dead and buried.

If not, Mr. Sesker is handcuffed from the get-go.
