Is that the first-ever footage of an Italian car operating successfully during a high-stakes moment?

The NYT Ed Board is done screwing around. (Although the newsroom is likely far left of the ed board.)

Opinion | Democrats Deny Political Reality at Their Own Peril

But Democrats, looking left on so many priorities and so much messaging, have lost sight of what can unite the largest number of Americans. A national Democratic Party that talks up progressive policies at the expense of bipartisan ideas, and that dwells on Donald Trump at the expense of forward-looking ideas, is at risk of becoming a marginal Democratic Party appealing only to the left.

The Dems' haven't delivered jack crap due to moderates - I think the moderates need to take a seat. I do enjoy all the "analysis" following Tuesday's elections though - everyone "blames" or "credits" their personal opinions. The Dem governor candidates in NJ and Virginia are/were both firmly in the moderate camp. Tell me again how voters will embrace moderation. And tell me what "woke" policies the Dems should chuck to the curb? Voting rights? Immigration reform? Fighting climate change? Law enforcement reform? Weath inequality? The Carvilles of the party think these issues are "bad" for the party when they actually serve the coalition base. What is the point of winning elections if you are only going to spoon out vanilla policies that don't change anything?

Utter bullshit. I reject the notion that this progressive versus moderate bullshit is a division that's stopping the country from uniting. Because what we are down to is people who support democracy against the people who are trying to eat the edges of it so it doesn't really exist anymore.

When was the last time James Carville won an election, 1996?

The reaction COVID by Republican electeds and voters is one of the most appalling things to happen to our country in the past 40 years. That same party openly embraced using mass violence to get the political results they wanted and couldn't achieve by normal means. They lie about everything, so their vaunted "messaging" comes across as contradictory mush ("The January 6th insurrectionists are patriots who stood up to tyranny and are being unfairly prosecuted.....and January 6th was a false flag FBI operation). They search for political outcomes that would make Robert E. Lee proud. They beat their chests about being the party of parents, but reject paid parental leave. Their collective shrugging of shoulders after Newtown and Parkland was demonic.

But, I ask you, my fellow pundits: have the Democrats gone too far to the left?

The only thing I’m appreciative of Carville for recently is on election night 2020, he was the only guy on MSNBC not freaking out with early returns. When things looked bad around midnight, he was completely unperturbed. I cannot say the same for myself.

Hey, don't knock Carville - Clinton got us school uniforms and welfare reform. He gets a lot of credit for the internet-fueled economy, but mostly he just stayed out of the way and dealt with his scandals.
