We also have him to thank for giving us a naked, 20-year-old Cybil Shepherd.

To me, the car chase from What's Up Doc? belongs in the top 5 of SF car chase scenes. Piling on the ridiculous, with even more ridiculousness.

Directed Sidney Poitier in the made-for-cable "To Sir With Love 2" in 1995, which is surprisingly not-completely-abominable. It tries too hard to sell its up-to-dateness, but Poitier sells himself as Mark Thackeray once again. He is the same exact guy, 25 years later. Bodgdanovich nailed it.

Someone I know used to work as an assistant to a director in LA. In the last 20 years, Bogdanovich was well-known as a charity case, looked after by various more successful Hollywood types. He'd lived in this director's guesthouse for a year, about a decade ago. He'd been evicted from a hotel before that for non-payment. I texted her about the death and her response: "wherever he passed, I guarantee it was someone else's guesthouse."

EDIT: re-reading this, it comes off a bit cold without context. I should mention my friend has complained about Bogdanovich for years, and he was not a great guest. He wouldn't plunge his own toilet and insisted plumbers be called instead, things like that.

You'd think that academia would be the perfect fit for him Wikipedia doesn't have him doing any gigs like that.

Then again, given his rep, it might be tough for any school to trust him with any women under, oh, say, 65?
