All of this is bullshit. Discussion of his business practices in terms of a religious philosophy and attacking him for being a person doing business.

But he made his brand on being the Jesus’ed up financial goo-roo. Before he really blew up big the basis of his empire was selling courses to churches so they could hold group studies, and those became the core of his marketing outreach for the live events and all that followed. So if he is going to traffic on his witness in the marketplace, then evaluating how he lives up to those professed ideals is in bounds.

(While I don’t think much of him as a person anymore, the underlying principles of what he teaches do have some value. It isn’t the absolute best way to maximize finances, but it does a good job of incorporating psychology to make positive action more likely.)

My inarticulate point was neither view has any value. He is full of it to talk about business in terms of religion and people did lose their homes because of the market.

You cannot use his hypocrisy to show that there should be a general, ill defined moral obligation to act a certain way in the market.

Him talking about Jesus does not prove that people should act in a certain fashion in their business dealings. They are separate issues.

It probably isn’t all that smart to follow the example of Jesus when it comes to finances.

Judas kept the accounts for Jesus Inc.: probably not the wisest choice.

Jesus also wasn’t too keen on accumulating wealth with that whole seek your kingdom in heaven, not on Earth thing.

Jesus was very much a proponent of the LIFO accounting system.

The lord of hosts had neither a car payment nor a mortgage.

I think he's more of a rental guy.

John 14:2. "There are many rooms in my Father's house, and I am going to prepare a place for you."

    It's an Airbnb.

Be sure to get the travel insurance, though, in case you can't make the trip.

His procedure for returns is fairly painful to navigate.
