    My wife grew up in London, England in a religious family. She lived a very sheltered life in that respect through her 20s. However, her oldest sister married a sleazy promoter/TV producer who managed to get connected to some serious television productions. This meant he sometimes brought burgeoning celebrities home (he and sis freeloaded in the family home) for dinner. This meant The Ronettes once had dinner at her house. My wife, who never did get a complete grasp of 60s pop stars, told me this story early in our relationship. She was non-plussed when I went out of my mind.
