"Look, folks. The election was rigged by the Russians. Donald Trump wasn't legitimately elected. I know that, you know that. We all know that. We have gathered here today to settle this, Chicago style. You know what that means. We are gonna show these motherf*ckers what's what. Right? And we fight. We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore.

I hope Joe is going to do the right thing. I hope so. I hope so.

Because if Joe Biden does the right thing, we win the election. All he has to do, all this is, this is from the number one, or certainly one of the top, Constitutional lawyers in our country. He has the absolute right to do it. We're supposed to protect our country, support our country, support our Constitution, and protect our constitution.

States want to revote. The states got defrauded. They were given false information. They voted on it. Now they want to recertify. They want it back. All Vice President Biden has to do is send it back to the states to recertify and we become president and you are the happiest people."

--President Barack Obama, speech at the Ellipse, January 6, 2017

Did not watch the KBJ hearings but the accounts that I have read are a horrible display of what our country has come to. A Supreme Court justice hearing is about whether she/he is fit for the position. Do they have the intellectual ability? Do they have the demeanor we want in one of the 9 most influential attorneys in our country? Its not about the sentence given to a sex offender 9 yrs ago, one of hundreds of cases that were before her. Sorry no.

I didn't agree with the line of questioning of Bork (I was an anti-trust guy and thought he had the academic chops, nor the questioning of Kavanaugh, not the demeanor nor character I would like but subject was way off base).

The procedural approval of Barrett vs. Garland's nomination is still something that is simply a black stain of our government.

I didn't like Alito/Gorsuch/Kavanaugh but given our system, I accepted them. KBJ should have been given the same process (and Garland as well.)

I honestly don't know how anyone could go through a Congressional hearing without slamming people's dicks in the door.
They must be better than I am.
There is no way under the sun that I could sit there, take stupid abuse, and not snap back.

In a way, it's like being a sports official. Why would you go through it? Their heart rate is at 180 bpm. You have to keep yours at 70 bpm. I's hard. It's difficult. Many times, you crack. That's what they are trying to get you to do. To show you don't have the temperament for the job.

Could you imagine some of these people facing the same level of scrutiny? Honestly, it shouldn't be easier to become President or a Senator than it is to be a political appointee - but it very much is. Why are standards are so low for the highest elected positions in our government is a mystery.
You almost get the sense than in the TrumpGOP you have to raise your AQ - (A-hole Quotient) in order to be more reviled by those left of center to prove your worthiness to the GOP. You have to burn your ships* in order to be "trusted" by the righties these days. Any bipartisanship - hell any sign that you aren't a complete jerk - is seen as weakness.

    * - When Hernan Cortes explored Mexico - he ordered the crews to burn their ships to let them know there would be "no going back" to Spain. It seems Trump also would order his underlings to do something so bizarre (like Spicer's intro presser where he argued Trump's inaugural crowd was biggest) that would cut every string of credibility that person had to those outside WH to prove their loyalty to Trump.
