    Why is coroner an elected position? I would think it’s pretty apolitical.

    Eight years ago we had a libertarian on the ballot for coroner in my county. My crack on Facebook was “I presume he would let the deceased determine their own cause of death instead of having it mandated by the government.”

    I do not believe coroner is an elected office in Mass, but there's been an immense scandal in which death certificates, etc. have kinda been misplaced. Also evidence in murder cases. Rest assured the miscreants were solid regular (not liberal) Democrats, because no one else gets those jobs. Horrible governance is the one real bipartisan part of American politics.
